For the upcoming race at Michigan International Speedway, Josh Berry has been designated to drive the No. 42 vehicle.
The team has promptly suspended Noah Gragson, citing his behavior as inconsistent with the team’s principles. They have chosen Josh Berry to steer the No. 42 car for the NASCAR Cup Series event in Michigan.
NASCAR has expressed complete support for Legacy Motor Club’s decision to suspend Noah Gragson. NASCAR concluded that Gragson’s social media actions contravene the Member Conduct regulations outlined in the 2023 NASCAR Rule Book, leading to his indefinite suspension.
Clause 4.3.E in the Cup Rule Book stipulates that NASCAR Members are prohibited from making public statements that belittle, mock, or otherwise debase individuals based on attributes such as race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.
Clause 4.4.D in the Cup Rule Book highlights potential member actions that could result in punitive measures, including a fine or indefinite suspension. These actions encompass public declarations, including on social media platforms, that belittle, criticize, mock, or otherwise demean individuals based on attributes like race, color, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, religion, marital status, age, or handicapping condition.
Chevrolet has also made a statement, affirming their support for NASCAR and Legacy Motor Club’s resolution to suspend Noah Gragson. They underline that Gragson’s conduct contradicts their values and brand identity. Chevrolet has committed to collaborating with Legacy Motor Club on subsequent actions.
Gragson has shared a statement on social media, expressing his disappointment in himself for inattentive and inappropriate actions on social media. He acknowledges the gravity of the situation, emphasizing his commitment to treating all individuals equally, regardless of their background, and admitting his straightforward error.
At 25 years old, Gragson is currently competing in his inaugural full-time season in the Cup Series.
